East Java: Detachment 88 of Indonesian Police Arrested 5 Terrorist Suspects from the Jamaah Islamiyah Network

Multiple arrests were made against suspected terrorists in East Java by Detachment 88. The suspects are from the amaah Islamiyah Network .

Nusantara Pol - A total of 5 terrorist suspects from the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) network were arrested from a number of areas in East Java, Teusday (9/11/2021). The arrests of the suspected terrorists were carried out by the Counterterrorism Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88) of the National Police.

Three terrorist suspects with the initials BA, AS, and RH alias AH were arrested by  the elite anti terrorist squad Densus 88 in morning. Then, at around 11.32 local time, Densus 88 again arrested additional 2 terrorist suspects with the initials AN and MA.

Currently the terrorist suspects are still being investigated further by Densus 88. Officers are still conducting initial interrogations.

The following are the initials of the suspect and the location of their arrests:

  • BA in Bojonegoro
  • USA in Gresik
  • RH alias AH in Kediri
  • AN in Kediri
  • MA in Sumenep

According to a report by Detik, Head of Operations Assistance for Densus 88 Kombes Aswin Siregar said the three terrorist suspects were arrested this morning. While the remaining 2 were arrested during the day. They are from the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) group.

"The arrest of three suspects of terrorism crimes in the East Java region on behalf of BA in Bojonegoro Regency, AS, in Gresik, and RH alias AH in Kediri," said Head of the Operations Assistance Section for Densus 88 Kombes Aswin Siregar, as quoted by Detik, Tuesday (9/09/2020). 11/2022).

"AN has been arrested in the Districts of Pare, Kediri, and MA in Sumenep this afternoon at around 11.32 Western Indonesia Time," he continued.

A group of terrorists arrested in Gresik came from the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) group. Each of them has a different task. Among them are weapon supplier, training instructor and escape facilitators.

A number of books related to Jihad, laptops, and arrows were among the seized evidences.

Previously, on November 5, 2021, Detachment 88 units also arrested 4 suspected terrorists from the Jamaah Islmaiyah Network in Lampung.
