Indonesian Government Evaluates Activities Restriction for Areas Outside Java-Bali

COVID-19 incidences in Indonesia continue to be at low level.

NusantaraPol - In an effort to consistently control the COVID-19 pandemic, Indonesian government has resumed the Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) for area outside Java and Bali. 

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto said that activities restriction for areas outside Java-Bali will be continued until December 23, 2021.

"Especially outside Java-Bali, there will be an extension of PPKM (from) 7 to 23 December 2021," said Airlangga in a press statement after attending a Limited Meeting on PPKM Evaluation led by Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. , Monday (6/12/2021).

The level of restriction for areas outside Java-Bali is based on the assessment of the pandemic situation and vaccination coverage in regencies/cities. The level of restriction for areas with vaccination coverage below 50% will be upped by one.

More regencies and cities outside of Java and Bali begin to implement level 1 and 2 restriction.

Active cases as of December 5, were 7,526. Meanwhile, daily confirmed cases as of December 5 were 196 cases and an average of 7 days (7DMA) was 250 cases.

"the entire island (reproduction rate) is below one," said.the coordinating minister.

Airlangga said that the trend of daily confirmed cases is consistently decreasing through out areas in Indonesia.

Based on spatial data outside Java-Bali, said Airlangga, the recovery rate (RR) in Sumatra reached 96.20% with a case fatality rate (CFR) of 3.58%, Nusa Tenggara RR 97.46% and CFR 2.35%, Kalimantan RR 96.79% and CFR 3.17%, Sulawesi RR 97.27% and CFR 2.64%, as well as Maluku and Papua RR 95.89% and CFR 1.75%.

Previously, activity restriction in Java and Bali area was extended on November 30, 2021 until December 30, 2021. Jakarta had increase its restriction to level 2 following low tracing rate.
